- 16 ounces extra lean ground turkey
- 16 ounces sweet Italian sausage, sliced
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 cup diced yellow onion
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 24 ounces cubed Sweet Potatoes
- 32 ounces garbanzo beans, drained
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 cups water, divided
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons whole wheat flour
In a large heavy pot over medium heat, brown the ground turkey and Italian sausage in oil for 5 minutes or until done. Remove meat from pan, leaving 1 tablespoon drippings. Sauté onion in drippings for 3 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 2 minutes, stirring often. Return browned meat to pot. Add sweet potatoes, beans, sauce, 1 1/2 cups water, paprika, chili powder and salt to pot. Whisk remaining water and flour together; stir into other ingredients. Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
